The programme entails a series of weekly talks, supplemented with videos. These take place from November to Easter in the Saint George’s Parish Centre, which is next to the church and are on Thursday evenings, generally lasting about an hour. The programme, led by members of the congregation, gives a basic overview of Catholic beliefs and the teachings of the Catholic Church. Subjects include the life and teachings of the Lord Jesus Christ, the role of Mary as Mother of God, the Sacraments of the Church and the role of the laity. The laity being us, anyone who is not a minister or religious person like a monk or a nun. The programme is quite flexible because it is designed for adults, and as we know, all adults have had a number of life experiences, some good, some not so good and, if they wish, participants are welcome to bring these forward so we can put them in context. 

The programme is geared to the eventual reception through the Sacraments of Baptism (if the person has not already been baptised), Confirmation and Holy Communion, of those wishing to become Catholics. This takes place at the Easter Vigil which is on the Saturday before Easter Sunday. We offer a warm welcome should you wish to attend, however, no obligation or pressure placed on anyone attending the course to become a Catholic. All are free to say no or to walk away at any time. God’s love is a free gift to all who listen; there is no charge for this course.
